Artificial intelligence and climate change
SUMMARY
On May 2, 2023, at the United Nations in New York, France and Morocco are organizing an event on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the fight against climate change.
AI has a huge potential. It can play a major role in: improving the processing and analysis of climate data, helping us identify sources of pollution and developing technologies to reduce greenhouse gases. However it can also have social, ethical and political implications which can lead to profound disruptions in our societies.
Lisa Segovia, climate advisor at the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations, emphasizes this unprecedented opportunity to strengthen international cooperation on this topic.
